hmm.. after going through different towns, and outposts! i haven't seen anyone that is level 1 or somewhere below level 10. currently im in Sanctum Cay and most of the people there is level 18 or above. seem like running that far is too hard for level 1 characters!

report it to Guild Wars

Either he wouldn't have been able to die or he would've died right when the match started because he had 0 hp. He probably just died instantly.

And actually, it's not that hard to run to Sanctum Cay at a low level. A guildie and I did it a few weeks ago, me being at level 8ish and him being at 13 or so. We ran with nothing but ourselves and henchmen. Actually it was pretty funny because we ran from the Temple of Ages, so when we got to Fisherman's Haven we had 8/6 party members. I got a few screenshots of the adventure that I can upload later.

I leveled to 12 at augury rock doing a skill quest on my ranger.

Still, the issue of running and griefing are entirely unrelated.
Should sacrafice skills be banned from use because a few people like to go into the random arenas, spam Blood is Power, die, and if rezzed, repeat?
It's happened to me more than once, and to be frank, it isn't funny. Anyone with a necromancer char that's unlocked Blood is Power is most likely aware of the potential to kill yourself, and doing that in the arena is a lot like dropping out:
You're dropping the amount of people in the team, effectively, down by 1.

I have insulted a very small amount of people in MMORPG, but after one such person did it once, and I gave him the benefit of the doubt and rezzed him, he did it again... Nobody laughed the first time, so it certainly wasn't for OUR entertainment the second. No, it meant that he was out to draw his own chuckles off the misfortunes of others. That's one of the worst things you can do in my book. (Bear in mind, my insults are pretty mild, especially compared to those others will spout out.)

There're enough useless people in the arena as it is. People who d/c because of a bad internet connection. People who AFK for whatever the reason. Newbies who wander into the competition unwittingly arenas at level 12 or so wearing 30-41 AL armor that get smacked dead in just a few hits. People testing build ideas that flop totally.
You'll find quite a few matches with one or more of the above, and often, it's not really quite their fault.
I have to say I really doubt people appreciate others INTENTIONALLY making themselves useless. Suicide through sacrafice, going into battle naked, going into the arena with no skills on, so on and so forth... Don't you think people experience enough misfortune on their own, that they don't need others intentionally giving them more?

It's like having a group project in school, and deciding you don't want to work with the group.

This isn't all just righteous anger at having experienced such things recently. I created a 5th RP character, which took up my last remaining character slot (after having also deleted another RP char) so I haven't been PvPing often. I've ALSO bounced the arguments around with another person, and we got into a minor fight over it. (Not really over a silly game, but instead underlying ethics in actions. But I won't go into that.)

Recap-
*Running has nothing to do with griefing. Don't mix them up. Running itself doesn't hurt you at all. Griefing does.
*Griefing is bad. We have enough of a hard time without others adding more difficulty for us on their own.

If you honestly think such actions are funny, please PLEASE find a team in the Team Arenas with people that share your views. I can assure you, I don't appreciate it, and neither do many other people who are there for some competitive, even if more casual, pvp. If we wanted a side-show, there're numerous other avenues for it. Make the next Leeroy Jenkins movie (figuratively speaking of course) and entertain the masses if it's really that comical.

Could be an interesting project for someone with a really bored guild, but there's a bit too many of them now for me to buy that explanation.

Plus, what would be the point of rushing someone to late in the game at lvl 1? He'd have no skills and wouldn't have unlocked anything for PvP.
I was being sarcastic :-) But yes, I have attempted to do this and failed. I leveled up to 2 by the time I got to the Ring of Fire. I'll try it again later when I'm bored, really bored.

Just as an aside - I think running had become a serious problem for people who want to actually play the game.

I haven't been against the Droknor's runners (and I'm still not) - but it seems like you can buy a runner just about anywhere from Ascalon to Ascension.

Why is this a problem? I, for one, don't want to pay someone else to play the game for me. So I try to fiond groups. In some areas, the spam for runners (in public chat, no less!) is as bad or worse than the spam for items in the trade channel!

So the other morning I'm in Augury Rock, trying to get a team together to go to Thirsty River. It took 3 hours to get a real team together. On the first try, I was the only lvl 20 character (not yet ascended) - the rest were as low as lvl 14!!! We had numerous people who would get into the group initially, then immediately ask "are we running?" When the answer was no, they would leave.

When I found a group that finally wanted to actually fight through, it wasn't an optimal group - 2 necros, 2 rangers, and the 2 monk henchies...but we made it through, and then completed Thirsty River together. We parted ways, and later I went to Elona - where there were people there spamming to run characters through the mission there!

It's getting crazy... level 14 characters trying to ascend!! And they will do it - because there are runners out there even running the missions....

If it wouldn't get me banned, I'd do an experiemnt - offering to do the doppleganger fight for you for 5k - just give me your username and password...

Someone posted earlier that there's some "selling ingame stuff on ebay" company which does exactly that, offers to level you character if you give them your username and password. Who in their right mind would give his username and password to anyone who makes a living running bots?

Personally I don't understand the mindset of people wanting to get run. I mean, WHY? They paid good money for the game, why pass up on the actual content? If they only want to PvP fine, but they wont unlock anything by just running through, so why not create a PvP only character?

But that doesn't bother me. If they want to ruin their gaming experience, be my guest.

What irritates me is that I just KNOW that we'll get these guys who, after being run, 1) brag about how they ascended two days after buying the game, at lvl 12, and 2) complain that the game is too short and boring.

Thumbs up

So I click a thread entitled "Why Running Must Stop", and it turns out to be some guy complaining that someone in his team had zero health.

Good going!

The running isn't the problem, it's just the griefing.

I've seen some people joining random arena and either sitting there, or immediately quitting out. No accidents, because I saw them do it repeatedly (at least 3+ times for multiple people).

I just report their names using /bug.
